Since I've been doing so much obsessing (and I mean obsessing) about the book I have coming out next month (btw, have you heard about SKINNED? September 9? Win yourself a copy!), I figured this might be a good time to mention some other September books that I'm excited about.
Other, as in, written by people who aren't me. (Yes, there are occasional moments when I'm not completely self-obsessed. Shocking, I know.)
Off the top of my head, the ones that have me biting my nails in anticipation:
A collection of short stories from the master of short stories. (Plus, according to amazon, my second favorite author and my second favorite member of REM are both fans. Beat that.)
I've already read this in galley form. and it is so thoroughly wondrously, fabulously, astrally pulchritudinous that I plan to buy it and read it all over again as soon as it hits the shelf.

Murders! Hippies! The Manson Family! Creepiness factor turned up to 11! The one and only Lauren Myracle! What's not to love?

Full disclosure: I've only read one Neil Gaiman YA (Coraline) and didn't love it. But I did, however, adore American Gods and Fragile Things, and I have a feeling that this new one's going to blow me away. Also, I dare you to resist the premise. (Basically: 'It takes a graveyard to raise a child.')
What am I missing? I'm open to suggestions!

Some other September titles I've either read already or am excited for: Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott (read and loved it- so fantastic, but very much on the short side, which I was not a fan of), Invisible Touch by Kelly Parra (LOVED this book, as well as Parra's first Graffiti Girl- great author), Jenny Green's Killer Junior Year by Amy Belasen and Jacob Osborn (fantastic debut with some great dark humor), Getting the Girl by Susan Juby (very funny and intriguing novel). Ones that I'm excited for are, aside from the ones in the first paragraph: Swimming with the Sharks by Debbie Reed Fischer (I have both this and her debut novel in my TBR pile, and am excited to read both), Sleepless by Terri Clark (loved her short story in Breaking Up is Hard to Do, and can't wait to read her first novel), Let It Snow by John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle (Do I even need to say anything? Just look at the authors! You know this book is just made of awesome- I have an ARC of it and can't wait to read it), and Four Truths and a Lie by Lauren Barnholdt (I loved Lauren's first book, Reality Chick, and can't wait to read this new MG novel from her, as well as the two books that were published in between, which I have in my TBR pile that's extremely huge).
Alrighty, I'll stop rambling now.
Oh wait, PS, is Skinned the beginning of a new trilogy? Just wondering cuz when I was on Amazon earlier this year, I was looking up books by you and saw that one was called Trilogy #1 and it was due to come out next month.
ps. yes, Skinned is book #1 of a trilogy. I'm procrastinating on the manuscript for #2 as we speak...
And ah, ok, thanks for letting me know! That's really cool. And procrastinate away! :)
Can't wait to read Skinned!
